Jay Ralston attended Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. Prior to becoming a partner at MRPC Law in 1995, Jay honed his legal skills at large Toronto law firms.
- accident victims suffering serious and catastrophic injuries
- families of children who are compromised due to negligent actions or omissions of hospitals and physicians at birth
- individuals and companies with commercial disputes
- individuals and companies who require creative and cost-effective litigation representation in commercial, real estate, insurance, and disability disputes
Jay, along with a group of colleagues, launched a class action against 15 auto insurers who deliberately shortchanged accident victims on their accident benefits under the government-designed auto insurance scheme. In taking on this difficult case, which claimants would not be able to afford on their own, Jay was awarded the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association John A. McLeish award for his contribution to access to justice.
Jay has been counsel at all levels of court including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Canada.
Jay is a past director of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA). OTLA advocates for equal access to justice and full and fair legal protection of persons who have suffered injuries. He is a long-standing member of the OTLA interventions committee.
